Eilean
Donan Castle |
The most photographed
castle in the world - probably. Occupied by the Vikings, provided
shelter for Spanish sailors, reduced to rubble by the English,
rebuild by the Clan Macrae and used as a back drop by James
Bond in the film The World is Not Enough - never a dull moment! |

Glen Beag Brochs |
Resembling a modern power station's
cooling towers, these 3,500 year old fortified structures are
11m in height with an internal and external stone wall. Not
quite on the same scale as the pyramids but certainly well worth
a visit |

Gavin Maxwell's
Sandaig |
Worth a visit just
to see the white crushed shell sand beaches on the tidal islands,
Sandaig was the home of Gavin Maxwell, where he wrote about
his life with otters. Today the only reminders of his time there
are the large boulder which marks his grave and the grave of
his otter Edal. |

Bernera Barracks |
Strategically sited
to control the crossing at Kylerhea, the Barracks are one of
four built across Scotland in the early 18th century by the
Hanovarian government to prevent any Jacobite uprising. This
impressive four storey building is now a ruin. |

Beinn Sgritheall |
Recognised as being
the steepest of the Munros (Mountains over 3000ft) Beinn Sgritheall
stands above the village of Arnisdale. From the top there are
spectacular views over to Knoydart at the other side of Loch
Hourn and also to Skye. |
