| Welcome
to the self-catering highlands web site. Within this site you'll
find a selection of quality self-catering properties located
in the Glenelg and Knoydart areas, of the North West Highlands
of Scotland. All these properties are available for rental throughout
the year. On the following pages you'll find information on
things to do and places to go, on a year round basis. The area
surrounding Glenelg has a wealth of historical buildings, including
the Iron Age Brochs, Bernera Barracks and Eilean Donan castle.
Based in this area, you can take the original droving road to
Skye, crossing over the narrow Kylerhea straits, on the world's
last, hand operated, turntable ferry. |

| Gavin
Maxwell wrote the enchanting book, Ring of Brightwater at nearby
Sandaig. A tale of otters and one mans search for Avalon. With
it's white crushed coral shell beaches and spectacular waterfall
it's well worth a visit. The small village of Arnisdale lies
at the end of the main road. It's dwarfed by the mighty Beinn
Sgritheall a Munro which rises 3195ft almost vertically out
of Loch Hourn. Take a boat to Barisdale and you enter Europe's
last great wilderness, Knoydart. Walk over to Inverie and you
can visit Britain's remotest mainland pub. You'll find all this
here, anytime of the year! |
